This work was inspired by a striking line from Harrison Yamanaka, a character in the Japanese Netflix sensation The Chitei Masters: “The most physical, the most primitive, and the most fetishistic way.”

The sole of a shoe is, by nature, a part of the body that rarely sees the light of day and seldom enters our awareness in everyday life. Yet by deliberately recreating and exposing the worn sole of the Western boots he once favored, the piece brings to the forefront both the tension of the narrative and the presence of the man himself.

This sole does not remain within the realm of fiction—it reaches beyond the screen, seeking to leave its imprint on us, here in the real world.

It becomes, for those who gaze upon it, a “spectacle”—a landscape that draws us too into its unfolding story.

本作は、日本のNetflixで話題を呼んだ作品「地面師たち」に登場する人物、ハリソン山中の印象的なセリフ「最もフィジカルで、最もプリミティブで、そして最もフェティッシュなやり方」から着想を得て誕生した

靴底は本来、人目に触れることのない領域であり、日常の中で意識されることも少ない。だが、彼が愛用していたウエスタンブーツの靴底をあえて再現し、見せることで、そこに宿る人物像と、物語が放つ緊迫感とを前景化した

この靴底は、フィクションの中にとどまらず、現実の私たちにも足跡を残そうとしている

それは、観る者をもまた物語へと引き込んでいく「絶景」である
