It is also a landscape in which the logistics flowing through a single day in Tokyo have been compressed onto one screen.

The viewer cannot control them directly. What can be controlled is only the environment surrounding them. Rain can be made to fall where no one is present, water can be given, storms can be avoided, and relief can be called. Even while they are away, the environment can continue to change. Obstruction and recovery are given in turn, eventually becoming a single result.

What we routinely call “complete” may be the time they have given us.

In 2025, Tokyo had 7,566,300 households. More than five billion parcels are handled annually in Japan. If this volume is proportionally estimated based on Tokyo’s share of the country’s households, approximately 1.83 million parcels move through Tokyo each day. If one delivery driver handles 100 to 150 parcels per day, this would mean that approximately 12,200 to 18,300 delivery drivers are working each day. Over an eight-hour workday, this means delivering one parcel approximately every 4.8 minutes at 100 parcels per day, or every 3.2 minutes at 150 parcels per day. In April 2025, the redelivery rate for parcel deliveries was 8.4%. This means that approximately one in every twelve parcels required redelivery, which, when applied to 1.83 million parcels, amounts to approximately 154,000 parcels per day. The 1,000 workers appearing in this work do not represent the actual number of delivery drivers. Rather, the vast amount of time spent each day in Tokyo on delivery, waiting, movement, delays, and recovery has been compressed into 1,000 bodies.

2025年、東京都には7,566,300世帯が存在する。国内で年間に取り扱われる宅配便は、直近年度で50億個を超える。これを東京都の世帯数比で単純に換算すると、東京には一日あたり約183万個の宅配便が流れ込む計算になる。一人の配達員が一日に100〜150個を配達するとすれば、一日あたり約12,200〜18,300人の配達員が稼働している計算になる。8時間で単純に割ると、一人が100個を配達する場合は約4.8分に1個、150個の場合は約3.2分に1個を届け続けることになる。2025年4月の宅配便再配達率は8.4％だった。約12個に1個が再配達となる割合であり、183万個に単純換算すると、一日約15万4千個に相当する。本作に登場する1000人は、実際のドライバー数を示すものではない。東京で毎日繰り返されている配送、待機、移動、遅延、回復、その膨大な時間を、1000の身体へ圧縮したものである。
