Being in Constant Motion
This work focuses on a social system that continues to operate even after an individual’s death, meticulously recording monthly bank account withdrawals down to the minute level. These records include traces of life—expenditures one would rather keep private, remnants of everyday existence.
Regardless of the deceased’s will, the documentation continues dispassionately. It almost appears as if life itself persists as data—a new perspective on life and death begins to emerge.
In Buddhism, there is a teaching of impermanence: “All things are in constant flux and never remain the same.”
Even within memories or records, existence continues to transform, and we too remain in motion.
動き続ける存在
本作は、個人の死後も稼働し続ける社会システムに着目し、月単位で行われる銀行口座からの引き落としを、分単位にまで細分化して記録している。そこには、誰にも見られたくないような支出や、生活の「痕跡」が含まれている
この世を去った本人の意思とは無関係に、その記録は淡々と続いていく。それはまるで、生が記録として存在し続ける、新たな死生観の始まりのようにも見える
仏教には「すべてのものは常に移り変わり、決してとどまることはない」という無常の教えがある
記憶の中でも記録の中でも、存在は変化し、私たちは動き続けていく
