This work, & (Ampersand), uses the written character itself as material to quietly reconsider the ideas of equality and connection that lie beneath human relationships.

The ampersand is a symbol that joins two words in parallel, without subordinating one to the other. Its form contains a way of being—of existing together—without hierarchy, above or below.

Even when appearances, positions, or backgrounds differ, we live our days while being connected to someone. Such connections may be temporary, may shift in form, and yet, they always involve some form of shared presence.

This piece is composed solely of repeated ampersands. Within their arrangement and rhythm, we see the reflection of people—different from one another—standing side by side, continuing to form relationships.

That “you” and “I” simply stand together.
Perhaps that state alone is the most honest, and the most powerful way to be connected.

本作「＆（アンパサンド）」は、文字そのものを素材とし、人と人との関係に潜む「対等さ」と「つながり」を静かに見つめ直す作品である

「＆」は、二つの語句を並列し、どちらかを従属させることなく結ぶ記号である。その形には、上下や優劣のない「ともに在る」という関係の在り方が内包されている

たとえ見た目や立場、背景が違っていても、人は誰かとつながりながら日々を生きている。そうした関係は、一時的だったり、形を変えたりしながらも、常に何かを共有している

この作品は、「＆」という一つの記号だけで構成されている。その繰り返しと配置のなかに、違いを持ちながら並び合い、関係を結び続ける人々の姿を重ねている

「わたし」と「あなた」がただそこに並び立つということ。その状態こそが、何よりも誠実で、強いかかわり方なのかもしれない
